 Think about some books that have gotten really popular. What do they have in them? Magic? Mystery? Adventure? Realistic Fiction? Choose a popular category but also one that you really like. Think about a sample book that has gotten really popular over the years for the category you choose. Use that book as an example and branch off of it, maybe mix some of your interests into it.

For example:
Category: Magic/Fantasy
Sample book: Harry Potter
Ideas to build off of it: Write a book about the story of a boy or girl who discovers a new and interesting kind of magic. She/he sees what others cannot see, like other people's soul hearts or the way they think about things. She/he finds others who have the same talents, except they hear things that noone can hear. They go on many adventures together trying to destroy the other people that are out to get them because they were supposed to have the talents, and these kids got them instead somehow.

Example 2:
Category: Adventure
Your Interest: Video Games
Sample Book: the Hunger Games
Sample App game: Temple Run
Ideas: Write a book of adventure and survival like the Hunger Games. A man is running for his life in the maze of death or whatever you want to call it, which has many obstacles and places of obvious death. Like the app Temple run. be sure not to copy any of these books too suspiciously. See what you come up with from there.

Want to be a good writer but you just can't? Nothing comes to mind? Everything's blank when you think of a good story? I can help. First off, think of your interests. What are you good at? What are you an expert in? It may be sports, travel, vacations, friends, or video games. Think more deeply into your topic. Play the What if game. Here are some good what ifs to think about.
What if I could control the world through a video game?
What if I became the best sports player ever?
What if I traveled to a place noone's ever seen before?
What if I got lost during a vacation, and had to survive in an unknown place where I don't speak the language?
What if my friends suddenly dumped me?
What if I figured out I could read other people's minds?
What if I can't write a good story, so I write a story about trying to find inspiration?

Use some of these. It could help. Or if none of these sound like a good idea to you, make up your own branching off of your interests and likes.
